Auto Insurance

From daily commutes and family errands to weekend road trips, the right auto insurance helps protect you, your vehicle, and the people who share the road with you.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR COVERAGE

Protection for the Road Ahead

Auto insurance combines several types of coverage that may help protect you from the financial impact of accidents, vehicle damage, injuries, theft, and other unexpected events.

What Auto Insurance May Cover

Bodily Injury Liability - Injuries you or another covered driver cause to someone else in an accident.

Property Damage Liability - Damage you or another covered driver cause to another person’s vehicle or property.

Collision Coverage - Damage to your covered vehicle resulting from a collision with another vehicle or object.

Comprehensive Coverage - Certain non-collision losses, including theft, vandalism, fire, hail, falling objects, and animal strikes.

Uninsured and Underinsured Motorists - Certain losses caused by a driver who has no insurance or insufficient coverage.

Medical Payments - Certain medical expenses for you and your passengers following a covered accident, regardless of fault.

WHO NEEDS AUTO INSURANCE

Coverage Built Around How You Drive

Colorado drivers are required to maintain auto liability insurance, but the coverage you need depends on much more than the legal minimum.

Your policy should reflect factors such as:

  • The vehicles you own or lease

  • Who regularly drives them

  • Your daily commute and annual mileage

  • Teen or newly licensed drivers

  • Vehicle value and financing requirements

  • Where vehicles are kept and driven

  • How much liability protection you need

  • Whether a vehicle is used for delivery, rideshare, or other business activities

KNOWING THE LIMITS

Minimum Coverage May Not Be Enough

State-required liability limits are designed to meet legal requirements, but a serious accident can quickly create expenses beyond those limits. Other common risks may also require additional coverage or endorsements.

Damage to Your Vehicle - Liability coverage does not pay to repair your own vehicle after an at-fault accident.

Loan or Lease Balance - The amount owed on a vehicle may exceed its value after a total loss; gap coverage may help address the difference.

Rental Transportation - A standard policy may not automatically cover the cost of a rental vehicle while yours is being repaired.

Roadside Assistance - Towing, jump-starts, lockouts, and other roadside services generally require optional coverage.

Rideshare or Delivery Use - Personal auto policies may limit or exclude coverage while a vehicle is used for rideshare, delivery, or business purposes.

Personal Belongings - Items stolen from a vehicle are generally addressed by homeowners or renters insurance, not auto coverage.
